It's your turn: famous relative

Famous Relative

I never claimed to be related to any rock stars or presidents. In fact, I was proud of my peasant stock background. Farmers rule! Well, that was shot down. Family search has a new toy. It matches people in their system with the famous and infamous. As always, I take programs like this with a grain of salt, but this one was intriguing. I did not care about the kings or queens they said I was related to, but Mr. Rogers was another story. Fred Rogers and I apparently have the same ancestors in Jean Boucher 1521-1611 and Francoise Roussin 1508 – 1564, my eleventh great grandparents. I ran the family tree, compared it to his, and it was legitimate. That gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling, as I used to watch Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood with my kids. Of course, I will not be knocking on his door or inviting him to my family reunion. Not withstanding that he  passed in 2003 so I missed that opportunity anyway. I admire Mr. Rogers and the work that he did. He was a calming, caring presence amid all the bells and whistles of other children’s programing. Frankly, I do not think 13th cousins are a close match, but it was fun checking out that site. RIP Cousin Fred.
