Call it Snake Plant, like we all do, or call it Mothers-in-Laws tongue, it is a beautiful plant.  Growing in long spears, I have seen it up to 6 feet tall.  This plant has a long history in our family.  It used to be a small plant on my Grandmother Lena's window seat.  Just one of her many plants.  When she passed away in 1972 and her house was emptied, the lowly little plant went home with one of her children, and  was propagated and shared.  Divisions of the plant are still taken to family reunions for anyone who doesn't have one yet, and visitors to our homes (one of our 88 cousins or descendants of) are often asked to take one home.  There were more precious mementos that were divided among the nine children, and the multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren down the line. But no memento has been shared with so many family members and friends, as Grandma's Snake plant.
